Busselton Pickleball Club
Bringing the Busselton community together through pickleball: year-round indoor and outdoor social play and drills in the beautiful Margaret River Region.
Weekly Pickleball Schedule
Welcome to our pickleball club—where comfort meets pure enjoyment. We have sessions on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Our unique indoor surface plays like a true outdoor court—so our Franklin X-40s perform at their best, and we are safe from the wind, rain and sun!
Book a $5 Spot to Play
If you're starting out or just looking for easygoing games, our club-run sessions are ideal. Enjoy friendly rallies, a warm community vibe, and lots of fun—without the pressure to win. Match-ups are made on the spot, keeping things fun and flexible.
Kids are also very welcome to join in our Saturday and Sunday club-run sessions. Pickleball is a family-friendly sport, and to keep sessions safe and enjoyable for everyone, children must be accompanied on court by a parent or guardian.
Or if you're an experienced player craving top-level play, our coach-run sessions are made for you. Expect fast-paced games, great energy, and lots of laughs—plus pre-planned match-ups that guarantee a fantastic playing experience for all.
Frequently Asked Questions
Pickleball is a fun paddle sport that, despite looking a bit like tennis, has its own set of rules, scoring and court size, so it's actually very different to tennis! It's easy to learn, suitable for all ages, and can be played socially or competitively.
Tuesdays 6:30pm — 8:00pm (advanced social)
Thursdays 6:00pm — 7:30pm (social)
Fridays 7:00pm — 8:30pm (drills)
Saturdays 4:00pm — 5:30pm (social)
Sundays 5:00pm — 6:30pm (social)
Our primary venue is High St Hall: 47 Bussell Hwy, West Busselton. It is an indoor venue with toilets and a kitchen.
Occasionally we use our secondary venue: 3 Carey St, Busselton. It is an outdoor venue with toilets.
Coach-run sessions (Tuesdays & Fridays) are led by our club coach and are carefully planned in advance to ensure the best possible games for all players. These sessions include structured drills and on-court coaching, designed to lift the standard of play for everyone involved.
If you’re an experienced player craving higher-level play, coach-run sessions are made for you. Expect fast-paced games, strong competition, great energy, and plenty of laughs — with pre-planned match-ups that ensure a quality playing experience for all. For safety reasons, Tuesday sessions are not suitable for beginners. Friday sessions are ideal for beginners and provide a great opportunity to build skills quickly and confidently.
Club-run sessions (Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays) are led by club volunteers rather than a paid coach. They’re relaxed and informal, with games organised on the spot, and are a great opportunity for parents to bring their kids along for a hit. Volunteers help ensure everyone mixes in, gets plenty of games, and enjoys a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
These sessions are ideal if you’re newer to pickleball or simply looking for easygoing games, extra court time, and a strong community vibe — without the pressure to win. All players are welcome, including children, beginners, and experienced players.
Because the Club receives a significant discount on venue hire, club-run sessions are cheaper than coach-run sessions.
Which Session Is Best For You?
Both session types are heaps of fun — it really just comes down to what you’re looking for. If you’re an experienced player chasing higher-level games and on-court coaching, coach-run sessions are the best fit. If you’re newer to pickleball, still learning the ropes, looking to bring your kids along, or keen to play socially in a relaxed, casual environment, club-run sessions are perfect for you.
Yes! Pickleball is a fantastic racquet sport for kids, as the ball moves and bounces much more slowly than in many other racquet sports, giving them extra time to react and hit the ball. Kids from as young as 3 years of age are very welcome to join in our Saturday and Sunday club-run sessions.
To keep sessions safe and enjoyable for everyone, children must be accompanied on court by a parent or guardian, as children under 12 only hit with their parents - they don’t join in the adults social play. Kids can’t be dropped off with the expectation that other adults will coach them. Pickleball is a family-friendly sport, and we love seeing parents hit with their kids.
No experience is needed! We welcome beginners, and our club offers lessons to help new players learn the rules, strokes, and strategies.
No - loan paddles are provided at our social sessions free of charge. And once you’re hooked and want to buy your own paddle, our club coach Power Pickleball's Pro Shop has a huge range of paddles for you to choose from.

Private lessons, group drills sessions, organised social sessions, competitive play and club-run sessions.
Sessions go for 1.5 hours. If you don't feel you are able to play for the duration of the session, that's completely fine, just let our club coach know in advance when you'd like to rest so they can cover for you so your court isn't left with 3 players.
No — you’ll always have a spot on court. This is why we require players to book in advance whenever they’d like to play. Advance bookings allow us to manage numbers and ensure we don’t have more players turn up than available court spots.
No, you can play as little or as often as you like! FIFO players love playing as they can play 5 times per week when they're in town!
No, our club coach will partner you up with players of the same skill level as you. If you do bring a partner to play with, our club coach will keep you on court with them for most of the session.
The cost varies depending on what type of session you're wanting to play in. Organised social sessions run by our club coach start at $14 with no extra charge to hire a paddle. Club-run sessions are $10, or $5 for members.

Useful info to read before your first session
Thanks for booking your spot to play — we can’t wait to have you join us! Please take a moment to read the helpful information below. If you have any questions, feel free to call or SMS Club President Jo on 0406-244-892.
If you haven’t booked your spot yet, you can do so here: https://busseltonpickleballclub.au/how-to-book-a-spot-in-club-run-sessions
If you’re no longer able to attend, please cancel your booking on Stack Team App the same way you booked it, ensuring you press NO and then SAVE. Please do this ASAP so the spot you had reserved can be allocated to a player on the waiting list. Our cancellation window is one hour prior to the session starting.
We prepare match-ups one hour before the session starts. If something comes up within that hour and you can no longer attend, please call or SMS Club President Jo on 0406-244-892 and cancel your booking on Stack Team App as soon as possible so we can adjust the match-ups.
If you arrive late or leave early, the other players on your court miss out on a full, enjoyable game because they are left one player short. Please keep this in mind when booking your spot.
If you are running late, please call or SMS Club President Jo on 0406-244-892 with your ETA so she can adjust the match-ups accordingly.
The location of each session is shown in the event address when you book your spot on Stack Team App. In almost all cases, sessions are held at our indoor venue: High St Hall, 47 Bussell Hwy, West Busselton. Please don’t arrive too early, as you might arrive before we’ve even opened up!
If you're new to pickleball, please familiarise yourself with the rules of pickleball by watching these three short videos before your first session:
In video 3, pay attention to the importance of moving forward to the "non-volley zone" (also known as the "kitchen"). In pickleball, it is detrimental and unsafe to stay back at the baseline for the whole rally like you do in tennis.
The phrase to help you remember how to play is:
Serve & Stay, Return & Run
Serve & Stay: The serving team has to stay behind the baseline after they serve because they have to let the return of serve bounce. Once they've hit the return of serve back, they should run in to the "kitchen".
Return & Run: The returning team should return the serve and then run in straight away to the "kitchen".
You will hear the commentator refer to the "third" - that's the "third shot", where the serve is the first shot, the return of serve is the second shot, and the next shot that the serving team hits is the third shot. This shot is so important because you have to keep it low or make it drop in the "kitchen". If you hit it high, your opponents will just smash it away for an easy winner.
We have paddles for beginners to borrow. And once you’re ready to buy your own, our Club Coach will be able to sell you a paddle that is the perfect fit for you: https://powerpickleball.au/pro-shop
Please don’t buy a paddle from Kmart - they are very poor quality and won’t be enjoyable for you to use at all!
Each session begins with a 15-minute warm-up, followed by five 15-minute rounds of carefully organised match-ups. Games are skill-based, so you’ll play with and against a range of players at a similar level, and if you’re new to pickleball, our committee members will play with you to teach you how to play.
We prepare match-ups before the session starts, so if you need to cancel or if you’re running late, please change your booking on Stack Team App to No and SMS Club President Jo on 0406-244-892 as soon as possible so she can adjust the match-ups.
If you’ve added a +1 or more to your booking on Stack Team App, please sms Club President Jo on 0406-244-892 to let her know the names and playing standards of the additional player(s) so she can add them to the match-ups.
